My name is Katie Mullins, a.k.a "Bonya".
After a career in Supply Management of 25+ years, I began designing and hand crafting
jewelry. In October 2006, I started my business, Bonya’s.
I love patterns, natural and man-made, and man’s ancient ornamental designs.
These elements, combined with my life experiences and perspective, are the foundation of my inspiration and creativity.
A self-taught artist, I hand craft all
of my jump rings, findings, chain, and filigree from non-tarnish .925 Argentium Sterling Silver wire. Argentium
Sterling Silver is tarnish-resistant, nickel-free and scratch-resistant; the perfect 21st century white metal,
and a joy to work with.
Some
of the most notable shows I’ve attended are: Yankee Peddler Today, Art in the Village at Legacy Village,
Ohio Mart at Stan Hywet, Christmas in the Colonies, Cain Park, and Tower City Art Festival.
I am a member of Ohio Designer Craftsmen:
http://www.ohiocraft.org/about.html.
I am Vice President, Programs & Funding Chair and Founding Member
of the Ohio Jewelry and Metal Arts Guild: www.ohiojmag.com. OJMAG strives to offer opportunity, camaraderie and technical support tot
he jewelry and metal arts community. Membership is open to anyone interested in jewelry and metal arts: students,
professional metalsmiths, gallery owners, retailers, collectors, novices, manufacturers or any individual who wishes to be
a contributing member of the group.
I am the founder of the Ohio Arts Community www.neoartists.com. OAC meets to share knowledge and resources in Ohio for Ohio. We are artists, gallery and shop owners, and promoters
working together to maintain and promote the arts.
My non-tarnish .925 Argentium Sterling Silver jewelry is available
for purchase on this website and at several galleries (see Galleries button). I also exhibit at art shows in Ohio
(see Shows button).
I currently teach how to make chain maille jewelry at Beadtini Boutique in Copley, Edybeady's
Bead Shoppe in Canton, and Lake Erie Artist Gallery in Cleveland (see Classes button).
My
business name, “Bonya”, came from my step-daughters oldest son, Nathan. Since Nathan has two
“Grandma’s”, I thought I’d have him call me “Nana”. Despite my best
efforts, “Nana” came out as “Bonya”, and Bonya I’ve been ever since.
